Fake MJ?

Michael Jackson’s first posthumous release, Michael, was a hotbed of controversy and speculation. While a few seemed convincingly real, some of the tracks didn’t sound much like Michael at all, Breaking News perhaps the worst case of the bunch.

Regardless, after the album was released in December, the controversy that had been brewing seemed to dissipate. Tonight, however, Jason Malachi, the rumored performer of these seemingly non-MJ vocal tracks posted the following statement on his Facebook confirming our worst suspicions:

“Sheesh guys, I guess it’s time to confess. I’ve lied to many people, including someone today, but… It was me. It was me who sang Breaking News, Keep Your Head Up, Monster and Stay.

I had a agreement with the record company, but now the cat is out of the bag. Sorry to all my fans, and fellow Michael Jackson fans.”

Many fans had come to this conclusion themselves, but both Jackson’ estate and Sony maintained that the music was 100% authentic. If Malachi’s statements are true, the blame is most certainly with Sony for shamelessly pushing this Jackofraud onto his massive fanbase for a paycheck.
