A new book was released that chronicles the goings-on of the 2008 horse race. Here is a long excerpt.
This excerpt doesn't reveal many details that we don't know about this fraudulent asshole. Its author claims that Edwards' former longtime aide is going to release an explosive new book next month, which will probably blow the minds of even the most delusional deniers at this point (some of whom have commented in the box below the piece).
I have briefly discussed my encounter with John Edwards on blogs in the past. I'm going to recount the whole story in detail now.
I was living in Seattle at the time-- it was mid-2007. He appeared at a community college that was just outside of the city. I was unemployed at the time, so it seemed like a fun thing to do. When I arrived I was packed into a rather small auditorium with maybe 100 people. Later I was told that tens of others were waiting outside-- people who literally couldn't fit into the chamber. We were all 30 minutes or so early, and he arrived almost an hour late. So everyone who was packed uncomfortably in that small auditorium was forced to bear the uncomfortable heat, smells and immobility that a large gathering generates/causes for a long time. I remember that I was bored to tears because I didn't have any reading material-- I didn't think that a presidential candidate would keep a large crowd of people waiting almost two hours. At the time the declining bee population was in the news, so I stared at a few "rare" (not really-- just more media bullshit) bees that were pollenating plants through a window. A spokeswoman of some sort who worked at the college informed us that he was stuck in "Seattle's infamous traffic," which was a weak excuse because a) everyone else had arrived there early b) it was sometime around noon; there was no real traffic. I also remember that there were many groups of people who wore various union tee shirts to represent their causes. They were talking amongst themselves about what kind of questions they were going to ask him. This was before the days when I realized that politicians don't give a fuck about ordinary people, so it didn't seem quite as amusing to me as it does now.
ANYWAY, cut to the asshole finally taking the stage almost two hours later. The speech was comprised of immemorable nonsense that any politican could come up with. I was struck by his blatant lie of "I will get all of our soldiers out of Iraq," which was one of Obama's many outrageous promises as well many lifetimes ago. It probably garnered more applause than anything else he said. I didn't clap. I knew that it was flat-out bullshit.
He finished the torturous speech then took asked for questions. Many hands shot up. Now this is the part that didn't really humor me until several hours later: he actually said, "Don't worry. I'm going to get to everybody." Most of the people who raised their hands were the aforementioned union members-- supposedly the guys for whom Edwards fights... or whatever. He didn't take a single question from one of the union people, who were clearly represented by their tee shirts. Apparently, when Edwards said "I'm going to get to everybody" he meant 5 of the twenty or so people who had questions. He just didn't give a fuck. He wrapped things up quickly, then nearly the entire crowd literally encircled him. As he started to make his way to the back of the stage the crowd thinned out. Many of the fans said they knew where the exit to the stage was and were going to meet him there. But I remained there as the crowd dwindled to maybe ten people; I positioned myself in a place where he was going to pass, stuck out an item that I wanted him to sign then, as he was signing it, said, "NC State!" in a "rah-rah" way. No one could misinterpret my tone. NC State was the first college that I attended and Edwards' undergraduate school. He coolly said, "hold on" as he was signing the item. He didn't hear what I said. As he returned the item to me he asked, "Now.. what?" At the time I considered his tone polite, yet in retrospect it seemed obligatory, like a guy who is doing a job. I repeated, "NC State!" Now this is the point where Edwards the actor disappeared and his true nature was revealed-- not subtly like ignoring questions from a crowd. In a tone that can only be described as a man who hates retarded people and is addressing a mentally defective person he said, "There yooouuuuu gooooooooooo." If one of my actors had addressed me in such a manner I would literally say, "get the the fuck off my set." As it was, I actually believed in the guy at the time (couldn't quite believe what I was hearing), cameras were trained on us, people were staring, etc. so I politely smiled at him then promptly left the auditorium.
I actually lost sleep that night as I considered the incident. Was the guy really the psychopath he seemed to be-- a man who has no regard for a group of people that was forced to wait almost two hours for him, no regard for the working people he claims to represent... an utter phony for whom I voted and to whom I contributed $50 during the 2004 campaign?
Apparently he is (and more), and I can't wait to read his former aide's book about him.
