On Purposeless Acting Courses

I don't want to offend anyone, but I must admit that I have never understood the point of acting courses for many people.
I think that I have written about this topic and my experience with a mandatory acting course that I took in film school previously on this blog. But I want to emphasize that I think that many of them are frauds in the manner in which they try to sell various "methods" and other nonsense when in fact they might as well sell Dumbo's feather. It's all about confidence-- the confidence that you need to play various parts of your personality and the confidence to draw on your experiences and put them on display. In my opinion, there are much cheaper ways to gain such confidence-- you don't need to pay someone $100 per hour.
