The new Arcade Fire video for "The Suburbs" was released.
There are all sorts of dark shades in this video- I think that Jonze is trying to communicate the brightness of the past/youth and slam it together with the dreary reality of the present...
The video BEGINS with police sirens, shakes us with images of security checkpoints in a residential neighborhood, then ENDS with police sirens.
It's as if Jonze is showing the joyous and carefree nature of the Smashing Pumpkins' wild teen videos from the '90s and asking us, "what would happen today?"
You aren't safe from state-sanctioned terror... even in The Suburbs.
