Recently Michael Moore sidestepped Larry King's questions about Obama's race and its importance to this election. Moore stammered and mumbled as he asked, "What century are we living in?" King continued by stating that during recent polling Americans respond much more honestly when they are asked if they are ready to elect a black president. Many aren't. Moore stated a few times during the interview that he has faith in American voters, and "I believe that they're smarter than that."
The moment someone says anything along the lines of "Americans are smart" you should call bullshit immediately.
Thus we are left with this grim reality: despite 8 years of total ineptitude (to which even Republicans admitted at their convention - see: Bill Maher's latest "Real Time" and McCain's acceptance speech) another Republican will again take the reins of executive power during January '09.
Sometime between November's election and the January swearing in date, Congress will amend Article 2, Clause 5 of the Constitution in a magnanimous gesture to McCain, who was born in Panama. People who were born outside of the United States will be able to run for president-- most notably Arnold Schwarzenegger. George Carlin himself predicted that eventually Schwarzenegger would be president.
It's an oncoming disaster, and it's a reality that people such as Moore must recognize: we are backward, and we certainly have not evolved much during the last eight years. It's a redneck nation, Mike. However, despite the disaster, Democrats will obviously make enormous gains in Congress. I think that they will gain at least 5 additional seats in the Senate alone.
