I was surprised to read this quotation from "Joe" (not his actual name) Plumber (has he received his license yet?):
"I don't owe John McCain shit," he said, according to reporter Scott Detrow. "He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it."
Democrats have seized on this quotation. "TAKE THAT YOU, TORTURED-IN-HANOI ELDERLY SON OF A BITCH."
But seriously, I want to address the nature of the remark itself, not engage in political gamesmanship with it.
I want it to serve as a warning for a phenomenon that I've experienced when I lifted up "lesser" people in the past. When you help them, they are totally ungrateful for favors that you do for them. They might even blame you for tiny unintentional snags that occur when they make enormous gains on your dime.
And they ALWAYS want more. The people for whom I've done such favors have never thanked me-- they have always requested more things as if I continue to owe them for their mere presence or something.
Don't waste your time. Let these dumb, unemployed assholes sort things out for themselves. It all comes back to the reason why "Joe" was not an actual plumber and did not actually have a business when he attained fame yet complained about his fictional business' taxes: he has that same unemployed moron's sense of supreme entitlement.
