As I've stated in the past, Thom Hartmann is a delusional, Reagan-obsessed, extremely erroneous radio host.

I'm amazed by his profound ignorance of the 2008 campaign.
When the campaign began he urged Hillary Clinton to batter and beat Obama because he believed that her attacks strengthened him. We know now (actually, I knew even at the time) that her attacks have only served to harden the Democratic anti-Obama faction.
I get a kick out of this article from May 22 in which he states that "The first thing Obama should do if nominated is put Hillary on the ticket. Will the Republicans have a field day with her on the ticket? Yes!" Later, he states that he received "roughly 30/70 'good idea"/"are you nuts?' emails" in response to that piece. Also, during May 23 Hilldabeast's "assassin" comments reinforced the absurdity of the possible selection of her as his running mate. The piece was completely invalidated in less than 24 hours.

His ongoing, repeated claims that the '70s were a period of great prosperity are patently absurd.
If you did not read "The Age of Reagan: A History, 1974-2008" by Sean Wilentz I urge you to buy it now. I have read 25% of it. Wilentz lays out the case (as I've also argued) that Reaganism was not created in a vacuum, as Hartmann implies constantly. During the '70s, when Americans endured stagflation and the near-bankruptcy of New York City, there was a widespread belief that Roosevelt's "New Deal liberalism" was outmoded and an alternative was required. Wilentz discusses how and why liberalism was misinterpreted and vilified even in Boston, the supposed capital of liberalism. He details why "New Deal" Democrats were suddenly perceived as "Limousine Liberals" and how Reagan Republicans exploited the perception.
It reminds me of Hartmann's ignorance and the ridiculousness of his tacit assertion that liberalism never failed people during the '70s and Reagan somehow deceived the populace through hollow propaganda and did not deliver substantive results. Hartmann himself states that the Clinton era was actually Reagan's era and the '90s economic boom was Reagan's "evildoing." With this assertion, he contradicts himself and agrees with Rush Limbaugh.

Please stop. Just.... stop.
