Ana Kasparian and the Epic Bearded Man

The last video that I posted featured an old white guy ("Epic Bearded Man") who was involved in a fight with a black man on a bus in Oakland, CA. Exactly who started the argument that led to the fight is unclear, but the black guy clearly initiated the violence. It was all captured on video.

I learned about the video through The Young Turks. The cohost who played the video, Ana Kasparian,

referred to the man as a "piece of shit" and downplayed his supposed "heroism."

Now, OF COURSE, neonazis are attacking her. They have bombarded her web site with comments such as "get a nose job, you Jew nosed bitch" and "fuck you, nigger lover."

Although I disagreed with Ana's characterization of the man and the event, I personally would never have stated such things on the air if I agreed with her because...well, I lived the first ten years of my life in Florida and Georgia. I know what goes down. Contrary to popular belief, we do not live in a "post-racial" society, and people who claimed that people who believed Obama would never be elected president were racist are morons. No, most of those people simply have a different paradigm.
Of course the response to her comments, which now include death threats, are TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE. She is a sweet, naive valley girl who has herself admitted that she is not aware of many of the racial borders that exist in our culture because she was raised in a tolerant, multicultural environment. When I have interacted with her in the past she was only kind to me.
If one of the people who have threatened Ana in any way are reading this, I want to ask you a question: if the man who initiated the violence were white would you care about this issue whatsoever? I know how you are going to respond because I know the racist mindset: "Well, she only damned the white guy because the other guy is black anyway." But please imagine that the other guy was white as well. Do you think that Ana-- a young woman-- might be much more sympathetic to the guy whose face was punished into a bloody pulp? Do you think that if she believes honestly that Epic Bearded GHuy initiated the argument she might be more sympahetic to the other guy-- again imagine that he is white.

Think about it. Now shut the fuck up. Stop threatening a girl's life.

Apparently Ana was so upset by the harassment that The Young Turks used a subsitute for her today. If these idiots force her off the show I'm going to be some kind of pissed.
