Top Five Posts

Last year I did my list of top three posts on this blog. I doubt that during 2009's last couple of weeks I am going to top this year's top posts, so let's get on with the show. This year I'm going to do a top 5 because this blog is THAT AWESOME.

January 14:

We began the year with depressing news from Ann Arbor when it was revealed that America's most underappreciated guitarist (who played in the most underappreciated band) died during New Year's Day. His name: Ron Asheton of the Stooges. During January '09 I posted a link to an interview in which Iggy Pop remembered him. The link is dead now, so I'll post a link to the Rolling Stone article about it instead.

April 13:

I shared my recollection of my visit to Seattle during the 15th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.
I also shared a few photos from those beautiful days during early April:

and an original piece of artwork that was made for me:

To my surprise there wasn't even a word about it in the Seattle Times-- not one.
I guess no one cared. Lately I've wondered what people DO care about. Seriously.

May 15:

I O-PAHNED (as former President Chimp would say) here about the destructiveness of conservative America's obsession with 9/11 and its exploitation, particularly Glen Beck's hysterics.

November 23:

I tried to introduce people to a good man named Bryan Bishop (AKA: Bald Bryan). He is a 30-year-old man who has an inoperable brain tumor. He is strapped for cash, so every bit that you want to contribute to him will help immensely. As I wrote when I urged people to contribute to causes against breast cancer, you will feel much better about contributing money to him than you ever felt when you contributed to that scummy politician's campaign.

December 6:

I met George Carlin's daughter. She dropped a few insightful bits about her father and signed my book. Read about it below.

I will return in a few days to reveal my second annual list of best quotations, movies, songs, etc. for the year... and later.. the DECADE!
EXCITEMENT.
