I would write that the umpiring for every postseason game has been shit if such a comment weren't an insult to fecal matter.
Every team in these series has committed a parade of errors except, I think, the Dodgers. It hasn't been pretty.
The ALCS
Can Benji Molina possibly meet with his pitcher much more often? I want it. Last night's 5 hour game wasn't long enough for me. I don't think that 7 visits to the mound during one inning is enough.
No one can possibly detest A-Fraud more than I.
Where is Vlad Guerrero in this series? He seemed to have runners in scoring position during each of his at-bats, and the time when there weren't any runners on he hit a single. If the Angels lose this series they will undoubtedly blame him.
The NLCS
Friday, during the Dodgers' postgame radio show, a couple of callers suggested that Torre should bench Manny Ramirez in favor of Juan Pierre. I've had the same thought since the beginning of the postseason. Yet the hosts said that such suggestions are absurd, and they described Ramirez as a "certain Hall of Famer."
Well, #1: no, he isn't. The Hall of Fame doesn't smile on steroid use, and Ramirez has quite possibly used the drug during his entire career. Speaking of, no one can deny that his performance has decreased TREMENDOUSLY since he supposedly stopped using them. We don't even know if he is a good hitter when he is "clean."
In my opinion, defensively he is slightly below average, and he has a child's throwing arm. Since he was a rookie he looks clueless sometimes when he is on the base paths. He has average speed, at best.
Juan Pierre has none of the Ramirez drama, and he is a solid, consistent hitter. He will probably never produce Ramirez's RBI total even when Ramirez is off drugs, but he is a much better base runner and base stealer. Although he has Ramirez's throwing arm, he is much more mobile in left fielder-- by far a better defensive player.
Pierre saved the Dodgers during the regular season when Ramirez was suspended. I think he should be a starter NOW.
