I don't want 9/11/01 to be the defining event of my generation. If I live to be an old man (which is very doubtful) I want young people to ask me about Barack Obama's presidency or an even better event that is on the horizon. I don't want to dwell on negative experiences. But there are things that I learn about 9/11 annually.
This survivor's account of his experience in the second tower that was struck (and the first that collapsed) is very revelatory. I always wondered what the people who were in the floors above the crash area experienced; now I know. The account reminds me very much of the '72 Poseidon Adventure movie. Many people traveled in the wrong direction-- to their demise. A few lucky people decided to take a risk. They survived.
The most horrifying aspect of this story: several minutes after the first tower was struck someone actually informed people that they could return to their offices on the building's intercom. Utterly moronic.
Read about it here.
